The Highsnobiety Fall Fit Toolkit is your manual for dressing well this season, from wellies to weather-ready running gear.

Many seasons have passed since the fleece was recognized purely as a functional item reserved for hiking dads. Now, it's a steadfast fall and winter staple, much like most other things that used to be reserved for, well, hiking dads, actually.

With the fleece's dominance in the cold-weather wardrobe comes a host of new iterations. While the classic Patagonia fleeces we associate with the ‘90s are still doing their thing, labels like GmbH have brought a more conceptual edge to the category.

We couldn’t solely focus on the fashion world’s adaptations of the fleece, though. Outdoor and sports labels have earned their spot at the fleece table by paving the way for the new kids on the block. So whether you’re after something utilitarian, a piece that's brimming with normcore appeal, or something altogether more luxurious, you'll probably find it below.

BDG

BDG serves up an ornate fleece jacket, dressed in the kind of floral graphic work we've seen from the likes of Maritne Rose and Stüssy in recent seasons.

Satta

The no-collar, liner-style jacket is everywhere again this fall. I'm not bored of it yet, though, and that's down to the layering opportunities it offers. Weave this Satta fleece piece under or over pretty much anything.

Napapiijri

A color-blocked option from Napaiijri, a label that makes clothes that make you feel ready for scaling Mont Blanc. Or ordering a Mocha to go.

Ermenegildo Zegna

This is the type of fleece that used to be worn only by Land Rover owners. Thank the democratization of outdoor wear that that's no longer the case.

GmbH

GmbH's two-tone fleece has been returning in new colors for a few seasons now, but the best is still the grey and black in my opinion.

Patagonia

An undisputed classic that needs little introduction. There's something both traditional and modern in equal measures about this Patagonia beauty.

The North Face

Trust The North Face to go big and bold. The toughest of tough outerwear outfitters, the mountaineering label comes through with a fleece that gives me slight Highway-patrol uniform vibes.

Snow Peak

Aside from killing it with the winter homeware goods, Snow Peak continues to keep us warm with pieces like this Polartech fleece. Available in made-for-fall olive green.

Battenwear

Tan and cream team up for a fleece with retro-aesthetic credentials. Looks perfect for a day in the country — if you dare to get it dirty, that is.

Aimé Leon Dore

Jeez. Black and cream look that good together on this fleece that it's a wonder why there aren't hundreds more of them in this exact colorway. We'll settle for Aimé's anyway.

Afterlabel

Afterlabel is all about extensive technical research that ultimately keeps you toasty. This down-lined fleece will do exactly that.
