Double Tap to Zoom

Justin Roiland, co-creator of wildly popular animated series Rick and Morty, is developing a new claymation show for mobile streaming service, Quibi. According to Deadline, the stop-motion program is called Gloop World and Roiland is working on the project with John Harvatine IV and Eric Towner for Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, which is home to stop-motion sketch comedy series Robot Chicken. Harvatine, Towner, Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, and Chris Waters have been tapped to executive produce the upcoming Quibi show.

Gloop World has been a dream of mine to make for almost seven years,” Roiland said. “A tactile clay animation show with a mysterious, weird and expansive world and really fun characters, fingerprints and all. I couldn’t have done this without the folks at Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, who understood exactly what I meant when I wanted the clay animation to have an imperfect approach, where you can see the animators in the work. I want the Gloop characters to feel like you can reach into your phone and grab them yourself.”

Deadline points out that Gloop World will center around Bob Roundy and Funzy, a pair of anthropomorphic blobs who are living as roommates in a suburban town on the outskirts of Gloop World. The show will be available for viewing on Quibi, joining the likes of a Steven Spielberg horror series, a daily ESPN sports show, a Legends of the Hidden Temple reboot, and Reno 911!. The streaming service is scheduled to launch on April 6.
