Last week, Kevin Feige appeared to confirm that the first transgender character was on their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, that statement has been revised.

Feige shared the news during a recent question-and-answer session at the New York Film Academy. Variety has since reported that two sources close to Feige have denied the news.

When asked about adding more LGBTQ characters, specifically transgender, to the Marvel Universe, Feige responded, "Yes, absolutely yes. Very soon. In a movie we're shooting right now." Unfortunately, he didn't go on to reveal any additional details about the character or the film that is in the works.

It turns out that Fieg had only intended to respond to the first part about LGBT+ characters.

During his New York Film Academy Q&A, Feige did, however, touch on two Marvel movies due to release in 2020 that are directed by women and new shows featuring female characters coming to Disney+.

"We have three other shows we've announced, we haven't announced the players yet, but spoiler alert -- two out of three of them are women," Feige said.
