Double Tap to Zoom

Mattel Creations has its foot firmly on the pedal, refusing to slow down. Fresh off the track with two laps in the bag, the renowned collectibles brand is gearing up for another run of the exclusive partnership between Hot Wheels, the legendary toy brand, and contemporary artist and car connoisseur Daniel Arsham.

Waving the starting flag, Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham’s first lap presented a capsule of reimagined icons, transforming classics like the Rodger Dodger, Porsche 930, and Hot Wheels Rally Case into eroded relics from a pseudo-futuristic timeline. Turning the corner into Lap 2, Arsham gave the Deora II and his Porsche 356 “Bonsai” Speedster the complete Hot Wheels treatment, scaling the vehicles down to 1:64 size, making them the perfect fit for any growing collection.

Highsnobiety, Highsnobiety, Highsnobiety

Now speeding into Lap 3, the dynamic duo introduces a new set of coveted novelties that champion some of Hot Wheels’ founding tenets. Elegantly petrified to join in the world built through previous installments, the latest pack of redesigned roadsters showcases Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham’s emphasis on speed, the defining characteristic of the acclaimed toy brand. Actualized through the design of the Eroded Twin Mill and the Livery Porsche 930A, Lap 3 promises to be just as high-powered as its predecessors––if not more so––while still offering the high-end artistic sensibilities we’ve come to expect from a creative force like Arsham.

First rolling onto the scene in 1969, the Twin Mill is one of the first “Hot Wheels Originals” ever put into production. Pulling inspiration from the best supercars on the market, this Hot Wheels OG is meant to embody the pinnacle of performance, a sleek ride only accessible in the most extravagant dream scenarios. Outfitted with two high-octane engines, a slim, efficient body, and a turbocharged essence, the Twin Mill is every speed demon’s wildest fantasy made reality––well, kind of.

Highsnobiety, Highsnobiety

Keeping the icon’s core spirit intact, Arsham and the Hot Wheels team modified the design to match the work commonly found within the fantasia produced by his time-altered and genre-melded portfolio. The new eroded Twin Mill, fashioned with a silkstone body and a pink Pantone color palette, balances the artist’s discernable motifs with Hot Wheels’ enhanced detailing. Equipped with the toy brand’s signature 5-spoke Real Rider wheels, the crystalline coupe is a sight never before seen on any orange-tinted track, tastefully contrasting the traditional Hot Wheels’ hue as it speeds along rounded corners and through daring loops.

To complement the Twin Mill redux, Arsham stepped back into his garage for inspiration, searching among his fleet of rare and vintage rides to roll out something unique for Lap 3. The Livery Porsche 930A is a “Hot Wheels-ified” version of the automobilenthusiast’s’s own 1986 Porsche 930, one that he customized with a distinctive livery to resemble an entrant in the 1980 Le Man’s 24-hour endurance race. With liquid silver hubs, Arsham-inspired branding, and a smooth gloss white finish emblematic of an ornate porcelain centerpiece, the new Porsche 930A is rooted in racing, showcasing an intricate amount of detailing that gestures towards its high-powered origins. Upon closer examination, you’ll even notice the special “3020 Rally Monte-Carlo” badge, a subtle nod to a potential futuristic discovery.
